Workshop: Order And Disorder – Figures of Chaos and Politics of Restitution

08-10 May 2026, Labyrinth, Zagarolo (Rome-Italy)

Workshop: Order And Disorder – Figures of Chaos and Politics of Restitution

Project TransculturalityInterstices Center in collaboration with FAD

This workshop proposes an exploration of different aspects of order and disorder: psychological, ethnographical, religious, socio-historical, and ecological. In the dynamics of some oppositional pairs like suffering and healing, war and peace, chaos and cosmos, revolution and conservatism, ecology and collapse, or modernity and tradition, the declensions of the unceasing tension between order and disorder appear much more clearly and concretely than in purely formal or mainly speculative schemes. It is on such declensions and their possible trajectories (beyond the limits of special disciplines) that the workshop intends to focus with a view to creating an encounter and a dialogue that might respond to the main challenges of our times.

Workshop: Tradition and Spirituality: The Question of Agency
Punta Walichu Archeological Site, Argentina
27-29 March 2026, Labyrinth, Zagarolo (Rome-Italy)

Workshop: Tradition and Spirituality: The Question of Agency

Project Animism in PracticeCenter Interstices in collaboration with FAD

The workshop intends to explore the intricacies of “non-human agency” in traditional societies and its repercussion in the Western appropriation of certain techniques to gain access to it. Emphasis will be laid on the dynamics of “appropriation”, “invention”, “recontextualization”, and “hybridation”, as well as the ways in which certain modern approaches (like Analytical Psychology, Ethnopsychiatry, and certain forms of art) can intuitively summon foreign cultural entities to the point of rendering their own autopoiesis perceptible, especially ritual techniques.

Workshop: Pluriverse: An Ecosophic Diaspora in the Making?

Workshop: Pluriverse: An Ecosophic Diaspora in the Making?

Project EcosophyInterstices Center in collaboration with FAD

This workshop intends to explore the interdisciplinary and transformative scope of the idea of "pluriverse" by focusing on an ecosophic diaspora as an ethico-political referent to transform Western models of domination into a vector of practical wisdom. If the practice of “a world of many worlds” aims at the preservation and defense of ways of living opposed to current global world-making strategies, the challenge remains to evaluate whether the accomplishment of such attempt does not require an ontological shift in the way knowledge is exercised and transmitted in Western culture.

Interstices Center in collaboration with FAD

The University of Udine and the Free University of Bolzano receive Adrián Navigante for a discussion on his book Traces from the Labyrinth: Insights on Alain Daniélou. Prof. Marcello Barison and Dr. Emma Lavinia Bon will speak with Adrián Navigante about his approach to the life and work of Alain Daniélou, which goes beyond the question of the reception of India in the West and intends to show Daniélou as the representative of a new form of humanism with a cross-cultural project that challenges Eurocentric parameters of thought and life.

Workshop: Modes of Socialization with Non-Human Agency

Workshop: Modes of Socialization with Non-Human Agency

Project Animism in PracticeInterstices Center in collaboration with FAD

The present workshop focuses on modes of socialization inspired by non-Western societies, especially concerning ritual and transformation. It intends to emphasize the deep psychological, anthropological, and ontological meaning of “non-human agency” as a living factor of relationship. A serious consideration of that type of agency demands a special approach to “cultural difference”, in which a common ground between notions like psychic field and the cultural horizon can be found and nurtured according to the challenges of our time.

Research Work in West-Africa: The Divination System of the Ewe in Togo

This research stay of Adrián Navigante in Southern Togo entailed intensive activities related to the geomantic system of divination, its mythical and ritual structure as well as its application as a healing dispositive. Such activities intend to continue and deepen the project began at the Alain Daniélou Foundation five years ago and valorize traditional local cultures, their presence and persistence in the global context.

Drawing Stories: A Workshop on the Geometrical Art of the Huni Kuin Peoples of Amazonia

Center Interstices in collaboration with FAD

The Interstices Center, together with the Forest Guardian Institut (Brazil) and the Haus der Erde Association (Germany), organized a workshop with the Huni Kuin, an indigenous group of the Amazon Rainforest (Acre, Brazil). The focus of the workshop was the Huni Kuin's geometrical art, traditionally called Kené, which is implemented in handcrafts and used for body painting with a wide variety of motifs inspired by the geometric patterns found in the non-human beings of the Amazon Rainforest. The purpose of the workshop was to share this specific type of indigenous ancestral knowledge through art, stories, songs and prayers which may contribute to healing certain problematic aspects of our western ways of life. The event took place on 3 September 2025 at the Haus der Erde Association and was attended by an international audience (from Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, and Brazil).

Workshop with Paul Stoller: Knowledge Transmission and Ways of Living

Project TransculturalityCenter Interstices in collaboration with FAD

This workshop of the Interstices Center will set out to explore modalities of knowledge transmission and ways of living that differ from the mainstream discourse of the West. The debate will focus on spaces of interaction that cannot be easily standardized by the logic of (globalized) Westernization. It will not only bring various disciplines of knowledge to a fruitful dialogue on the motivations and effects of specific cultural practices but also to explore the subjects’ engagement in such practices, opening thus a space for a cosmo-political transformation of the Western paradigm for the sake of a “pluriverse”.

Workshop: Field Perception and the Relational Unconscious: A Transversal Approach to Traditional Cultures

Project Animism in PracticeCenter Interstices in collaboration with FAD

The “practice of animism” is an art of living based on a solid transmission of knowledge and collective practices developed by cultures characterized in the past as "primitive" or "barbarous". These cultures teach us not only different parameters of perception and cognition but also a form of animism that can be taken as an antidote to many of the problems we are facing today (from somatic and psychological to ecological and spiritual). This workshop proposes a reeducation of perception and a reframing of our cognitive parameters through the pluriverse of certain non-Western local traditions, as well as a reconsideration of new concepts in Western psychology and anthropology (like "extraneous knowledge", "archetypal field", "mechanism of influence", and "ontological shock") to rethink the self-referential framework of Western culture and its universalist project.

Workshop: Geo-philosophical Aspects of South Asian, Amerindian, and West-African Traditions

Project Animism in PracticeCenter Interstices in collaboration with FAD

The creation of a therapeutic space in traditional societies implies the restauration of a collective order through different types of intervention. This implies a broader and more complex form of socialization than modern parameters enable to think, especially if one takes into account the living field of relations emerging from such practices. This workshop is an exploration of that field, which de-centers the human to redress the earth-balance.

Ecosophy. Transversal Bridges to New Forms of Relation

Project EcosophyCenter Interstices in collaboration with FAD

Ecosophy, a term coined by Arne Naess and further developed by Félix Guattari, stands for a form of wisdom or a concrete life-philosophy opposed to the human project that led to the global crisis today. This interaction is a space to work on a new pragmatics of the living far beyond the scope of Naess and Guattari.

The aim of this workshop is a reeducation of perception, imagination, and cognition, as proposed by Alain Daniélou’s Shiva and Dionysus, according to parameters of traditional cultures (in South Asia, West Africa, and South America), the world-configuration of which challenges the Western notions of individual and environment, nature and society, right and wrong, normalcy and pathology.
